Obituary from the Bangor Daily News:

ORONO - Lt. Col. Robert B. Virtue, USAF Ret., 62, died Jan. 8, 2001, at a Bangor hospital following a long period of declining health. He was born May 22, 1938, in Moscow, Idaho, the son of Charles and Mildred (Brooks) Virtue. He attended Bowdoin College and was a graduate of University of Nebraska - Omaha and also Husson College, Bangor. Robert was a career officer in the Strategic Air Command 1959-1981, serving as navigator, pilot and staff officer, also serving a tour in Vietnam. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church, Old Town, U.S. Power Squadrons-Penobscot Bay Branch, the American Legion, and Retired Officers Association. He had a strong and lively interest and participation in Orono town government. Surviving are his daughters, Cynthia Virtue-Stracke and Karen Virtue, and his friend and former wife, Dee (Harlow) Virtue. Services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, at St. James Episcopal Church, Old Town. Spring interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Orono. Gifts in his memory may be sent to St. James Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 183, Old Town 04468 or the Orono Public Library, Goodridge Drive, Orono 04473.
